Most people accumulate clothes and accessories over time. As the paycheck gets bigger, closets fill up. Sometimes it is difficult to let go of the dress you wore on your first date with the hubby, and of course, you need to keep the necklaces and earrings he gave you over the years. The thing is you have to keep all of these things in order.
Organizing your closet can be expensive. With a little imagination and creativity, however, you can do this on the cheap.
If there is still some money left after the show, buy pre-fabricated plastic stacking shelves along with plastic bins. Be sure the shelves fit in your closet, and the bins inside the shelves, so do some measuring before buying. Go for the transparent kind so you can quickly see what are stored in them. If you find the opaque kind to be cheaper, go ahead and get them. You can always attach stickers on their sides for labeling.
Blocks of wood or bricks with boards can take the place of the plastic shelves if you want to go cheaper. Carton boxes can likewise replace the plastic bins. Wine cartons are usually sturdy, so the next time you buy wine for your romantic dinners from your neighborhood grocers, ask them if they have extra boxes. You don’t need to buy a whole carton of wine, though. It’s not a good idea organizing while drinking.
If you are not into wine, use milk crates instead. These are quite sturdy and are able to take weights the cartons cannot. Try to get them in different colors so you can have a color-coded storage system.
Rarely-used and out-of-season clothing can be stored inside your suitcases. You can take them to the attic or basement to free up space in your closet.
For your jewelry, ice cube trays, muffin tins, or egg trays can be useful. Just put one necklace into each hole and you will never have to worry about necklaces getting tangled with each other again.
