For persons whose homes are decorated with a country motif, the Gonzales Rustic Furniture ARM 3 Corner Sierra Armoire makes a fine addition to their bedrooms. Both the materials used in its construction and its design evoke images of wide, open fields where horses gallop and blue skies where eagles soar.
Employing techniques that have been in use for centuries, Mexican craftsmen painstakingly create the warm pastoral appeal of the Sierra armoire. Assembled from kiln-dried solid pine with its own unique knots, burls, blemishes, and even splits, each unit has its own distinctive characteristic.
The wood is stained with dark walnut in combination with a satin furniture wax. This mix is sprayed and hand-rubbed to enhance the inclusions, grains, and knots on the wood as well as to provide it with a warm color.
An arched top and a scalloped toe-kick are immediately noticed with the armoire. It consists of two pairs of doors, with the upper pair following the arched contours of the top. The two pairs are separated from each other with two drawers that are installed alongside each other. The doors and drawers are all decorated with half-round moldings.
Completing the rustic look is the armoire’s hardware. They are made from stamped metal that are oxidized prior to installation to make them appear ancient. Instead of the more common concealed hinges, classic strap hinges fastened on the surface of the doors are used. The door and drawer opening handles, on the other hand, are designed like twisted metals.
The Gonzales Rustic Furniture ARM 3 Corner Sierra Armoire stands 80 inches tall. It is 48 inches wide and 26 inches deep.
