Most people’s collection of shoes can easily build up. This is because there are different shoes for different occasions. You would not want to wear your loafers or running shoes when you go to work in the bank or law office. Nor, if you are conscious about how fashionable your look, would you want to wear a pair that does not match the color of your accessories or clothes. Sooner or later, the shoe organizer hanging inside your clothes closet holding 10 pairs of shoes will not be enough to keep your footwear organized.
Separate shoe closets come in all sizes. While there are those that can handle only a few pairs, there are also larger ones that can hold as many as 50 pairs, perhaps even more. They can also be of varied designs. Some are low chest type boxes that can double as benches where you can sit while putting your shoes on. Some of these open with top lids, while others have doors or drawers on their front panels.
There are also tall shoe closets designed like a wardrobe. Like their chest-like counterparts, they can also have doors or drawers for access. Those that have doors usually have shelves or cubicles. Each of these cubicles can accommodate only a single pair of shoes, thus helping to keep them neatly arranged.
Materials used in the assembly of shoe closets are also varied. Some are made of wood, often from pine, oak, or cherry. Usually, these are the more expensive versions. Aluminum is also a common material because it is lightweight yet strong. Plastic, particularly melamine, is also popular owing to its strength and ease of cleaning and maintenance. Polyester with an aluminum frame is also available. Along with aluminum and plastic, polyester is one of the cheaper options.
Regardless of the design and material, a separate shoe closet is necessary if you and your mate have plenty of shoes between you. You would not want tripping over each other’s shoes and damaging them in the process. Shoes, especially designer shoes, can be pretty expensive. A shoe closet therefore does not only keep your shoes organized but protects them as well.
